Kathaana DEB Secondary School fraternity in Kangundo sub-county, Machakos county is in mourning after a night guard at the school was murdered by armed thugs on Sunday night.
The school Board of Management (BoM) Chairperson Dr. Ancent Kituku confirmed the incident, noting that the thieves made away with computers and TVs.
Kituku told Education News that students have been asked to go back home to pave the way for investigations.
“For the sake of the mental state of the students, we saw it fit for them to go home. The body had not been picked from the scene and it would have been traumatizing for them,” he said.
The deceased’s brother said that he received a call about the incident at around 6 am and on reaching the school, he found him bleeding from the nose.
“He had been hit with a blunt object on the back of his head and when I checked for his heartbeat, I realized he was already dead,” he said.
At the time of reporting, sleuths led by Kangundo sub-county Police Commander Charles Chepkonga had arrived at the scene to commence investigations.
