Secondary Schools from Etago Sub-county in Kisii that performed well in the 2024 KCSE examination have been praised.
At the same time, Principals whose schools did not meet the expectations have been cautioned against laxity and told to pull up their socks.
Etago Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Rose Muthee said she was generally impressed with the examinations outcome from the 22 secondary schools within her sub county and attributed it to hardwork from teachers, candidates and parents who carried their parental responsibility, preparing their children well for the examinations.
“We are generally happy although we have not received all performance reports from some schools but majority of them have given us hope that is why we can speak about them here with confidence,” she said.
The administrator singled out some schools like Nyangweta SDA, Mariwa, St Linus Etago Girls’ Ndonyo, Muma and Ikoba as some of the institutions that posted improved and encouraging results.
She advised some Principals and their School Management Committees (SCM) to join hands with the community and analyse the problems hindering their schools from performing well in exams and solve them amicably instead of accusing and blaming one another over poor results.
The vivacious keen administrator, who spoke to Education News at her Etago office, took a swipe at Monianku, Nchoro Moticho and Nyaimera schools over poor results and attributed them to internal leadership wrangles fueled by clannism and sponsors of schools.
