School in Nyamira mourns loss of Form Four student who died by suicide

Riyabu Secondary School fraternity in Nyamira is mourning the death of a Form Four girl from who allegedly committed suicide today morning.

Speaking at the school, the preacher in the area James Mainda said some of the causes of suicide cases include chronic mental illness, lack of family comfort and heavy academic workload.

He asked teachers to be keen so as to notice early signs of suicide among their students in order to prevent deaths.

According to family members, the deceased’s body was found hanging from a tree at her father’s home.

The cause of the death could not be established immediately as she did not leave any note behind.

The Police from Keroka took the body to Gucha Sub-county Referral Hospital for preservation and examination as they continue with investigation.
