School in Kisii closed indefinitely after mysterious fire burnt two dormitories

Nyosia Secondary School in Kisii County has been closed indefinitely after fire burnt its two dormitories on Saturday night.

According to the school’s administration, the mysterious fire broke out at midnight and razed two dormitories into ashes, consuming all students’ property. However, none of the students was hurt during the misfortune.

Kisii County police Commander Charles Keses visited the school and confirmed the incident, saying that an investigation had started to unravel the cause of the incident.

Following the fire outbreak, Cabinet (CS)for Education Juliius Ogamba visited the school and ordered it closed indefinitely after assessing the situation. This would allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

“Sisi watu wa elimu tuko na huzuni sana kwa kuona shule ikiungua yote na selikali hains pesa ya kuichenga upyathe (we people from the education sector are very sad to see the school burnt down when the government has no money to reconstruct i),” he said.

“It is clear that the dormitories were burnt systematically under the supervision of some people, and this will put a burden on parents to rebuild them.

“Arson is a big crime. I ask the police to investigate; anybody who will be found guilty will face and carry the full weight of the law,” he said.

Ogamba was flanked by Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda and Kisii County Director of Education Philip Chirchir.
