Nyandarua County Director of Education (CDE) Philip Wambua has urged school heads in the county to ensure all learners, staff and school resources have adequate security.
Wambua said security is paramount in ensuring learning progresses without any interruption.
The CDE told school heads to ensure all buildings adhere to standards and regulations of public works in terms of locations of doors and windows, which are very important in case of any unfortunate event.
“We urge all school heads both private and public to ensure they adhere to regulations and standards of public works which are very important to safeguard learners, teachers and staff in case of any unfortunate occurrence in the schools,” said Wambua.

The CDE, speaking this morning in his office in Olkalou town, said the Ministry of Education (MoE) is concerned about the security of learners, teachers ,staff and school resources.
Wambua urged school heads to ensure they regularly check on school dormitories, dining hall, classrooms, laboratories, and ablution blocks, plus any other structure to ensure they have high standards of hygiene.
“It is the core role of school heads to ensure all school facilities used by learners are up to the standards of public health regulations for their safety,” said Wambua.
Wambua also urged heads to ensure their schools have trained security officers to take care of school resources, and to cooperate with the police to address some of the situations they go through.
