School heads urged to ensure construction of high quality classrooms

Lurambi MP Titus Khamala has urged school heads in the constituency to closely monitor quality standards of construction works going on in their institutions to guarantee the safety of learners and teachers.

Bishop Khamala said that the heads should help NG-CDF officials to ensure the classrooms, dormitories, laboratories, libraries and other facilities being put up under the ‘Magorofa Lurambi’ initiative were of high quality.

He also urged secondary school Principals to retain needy students even when disbursement of education bursaries experience delays.

“We have rolled out massive infrastructure developments in our learning institutions across our constituency and it is upon us to work together. I am however impressed with what we have achieved so far,” he added.

The MP was speaking when he hosted a consultative meeting with key education stakeholders from Lurambi at his Shibuli home.

“The four-hour long session proved to be highly productive, bringing together various leaders to discuss and develop strategies for improving education and the welfare of both teaching staff and students,” he said.

The meeting was attended by the 22 public day school principals led by their Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Chairman Julius Chisienya.

Also present were representatives from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) led by Executive Secretary Tom Ingolo, Chairperson Nelly Malietso and Treasurer Jackline Mulindi.

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) was represented by Executive Secretary Harrison Otota.

Other notable attendees included Kakamega School Principal Dr. Julius Mambili, St. Joseph Girls Principal Sr. McClean Adema and National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) from various locations within Lurambi.

The group outlined several measures aimed at enhancing educational outcomes, improving teacher welfare and ensuring the well-being of students across the Constituency.

“This consultative forum has highlighted the collaborative spirit and commitment to fostering a thriving education system in Kakamega Central,” said Khamala.

“The stakeholders agreed on the importance of working together for the betterment of the community’s educational future,” he added.
