Nakuru County Director of Education (CDE) Victoria Mulili has urged school girls to focus on constructive activities and avoid wayward behaviour that will derail their lives and cut short their dreams during this holiday.
Speaking in Nakuru city, the CDE Mulili encouraged them to set personal goals and focus on how best to accomplish them.
“I urged you to set academic goals and be hungry to pursue and fufill them,” she said.
She added that living carelessly will expose them to vices such as early pregnancies, contracting Sexually Transmitted Infections and eventually dropping out of school.
The Director called on stakeholders, particularly parents and the church to monitor them and initiate activities that will keep them engaged.
“Let us protect and guide our girls in the right direction with activities that empower them,” she said.

Mulili further urged them to be on the lookout for sex predators and report them to relevant authorities.
Furthermore, the Director also urged society to safeguard the boy child from drug abuse and child labour, chief issues that distract them from pursuing education.
“Society is complete when we also advocate for the rights of our boys, and we should create an enabling environment to protect them against obstacles to their future success,” she added.
