The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), in collaboration with the East African Business Council (EABC), is organising a major conference on collaborations between the private sector, governments, and universities in the region.
The 13th Academia-Public Private Partnership Forum (APPPF)-2025 is scheduled to take place from March 12 to 14, 2025, in Kigali, Rwanda, under the Theme “Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship through University-Industry Partnerships for East Africa’s Sustainable Future.”
The forum aims to strengthen collaboration between academia, industry, and the private sector across East Africa.
“It will provide an interactive platform and exhibition to enhance partnerships between universities, technical and vocational institutions, and the private sector, and share best practices and success stories in academia-private sector collaborations,” says the Council.
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is an institution of the East African Community, a regional intergovernmental organisation comprising the republics of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, and South Sudan. IUCEA aims to foster collaboration between member universities in the EAC region. It was founded in 1980 and has its head offices in Kampala, Uganda.
Dr. Vincent Gichuru Gaitho, a distinguished expert and leading advocate for sustainable development, will speak at the APPPF in Kigali from March 12 to 14, 2025.

An eloquent speaker and engaging facilitator, Dr Gaitho, who is also chairman of university council and Pro-Chancellor at the Mount Kenya University (MKU), will share his insights at the APPPF.
According to the EABC, this upcoming biennial forum provides a unique platform for academia, industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to engage, network, and drive solutions that strengthen academia-industry linkages in East Africa.
“Delegates are invited to showcase their innovations, products and services to a diverse regional audience,” says EABC in a statement.
Participants are also expected to gain insights through keynote speeches, panel discussions and exhibitions.
“It is an opportunity to expand your professional network with policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and development partners,” urges EABC.
IUCEA will provide conference materials, lunch, and refreshments for registered participants and exhibitors. However, EABC adds that participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
The East African Business Council (EABC) is the regional apex body of private sector associations and Corporates from the 8 East African countries.
Established in 1997 to foster the private sector’s interests in the integration process of the East African Community, EABC envisions a borderless East Africa for business and investment. Its primary mission is to promote sustainable private sector-driven growth in the EAC.
