President William Ruto has announced that the national government will allocate KSh1 billion to Nairobi County to facilitate the construction of additional classrooms.

The president, who was speaking on Tuesday at St. Teresa Girls Secondary in Mathare, said the fund will supplement what is already provided under the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Ruto noted that the county has many children in informal schools that lack the necessary facilities and assured that efforts will be made to ensure these children receive quality education.

“We have agreed with your leaders that, in addition to CDF, we have allocated Sh1 billion to build additional classrooms in Nairobi,” he said.

Ruto also promised to support the construction of at least 10 new classrooms at St. Teresa Girls Secondary and five more at St. Teresa Primary School. He donated KSh 5 million to help equip a new dormitory for the girls’ school.

The head of state emphasized that Nairobi must take its rightful place in terms of development and education by ensuring all children have access to quality education.
