Residents of Rumuruti town in Laikipia County have asked their Governor Joshua Irungu to round up the children loitering in the town and take them to school.
Speaking to Education News this morning, the residents said young children aged six to eleven are all over town instead of being in school.
Led by Osborn Kamau, the residents said the governor has to take responsibility to clear the streets of these children who seemingly have nothing else to do.
Kamau said the county government should have a budget for the education of such delinquents.
“These children should be taken to school through budgeted funds as they are entitled to basic education as enshrined in the 2010 Constitution,” said Kamau.
