Robert Mandila is new Bungoma Executive Secretary as KNUT branch goes to polls

Former Bungoma East Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) chairman Robert Mandila has been elected the new branch Executive Secretary.

Mandila garnered 658 votes against his rival Elvis Waswa’s 434.

The seat fell vacant after immediate occupant Agrrey Namisi was elected as Second Vice Chairperson.

The event was held today at Holy family Misikhu Boarding Girls Primary School.

Teachers bide their time as the vote counting was underway.

In other results, James Wekesa was elected Assistant Executive Secretary after garnering 602 votes against his rival Patrick Karema with 237 and Steve Lyambila got 226 votes.

In another thrilling contest, Alex Wafula floored Emmanuel Ngoya for the chairmanship after he got 564 against his competitor Emmanuel Ngoya.

Sarah Mutsotsi was elected new Vice Treasurer, getting 402 votes as Peter Kasili got 335. Benson Wanjala came third with 309 while Joseph Situma garnered 32 votes.

The branch elections was graced by national Secretary General Collins Oyuu who applauded contestants for holding peaceful campaigns.
