Gusii professionals in the education sector have demanded the government to respect their leaders, especially the former Education CS, saying that he served with unmatched distinction as CS in the Education and Interior dockets.
While speaking to the press in Kisii Town, the professionals said that former CS Matiang’i is Gusii’s top leader and son who was loyal to government, cutting his image as national figure capable of transforming the nation.
The professionals said that they take great exception on the recent attacks on their colleague, which showed disrespect for the Gusii nation as a whole.
“We warn those hell bent on frustrating our colleague that Omogusii is watching and that they will pay the ultimate political price,” said Geoffrey Mogire, the Gusii Education Secretary.
The group said that the mistreatment of Matiang’i will only serve to alienate the Gusii community’s political support.
According to them, every Kenyan should be allowed to enjoy his inalienable rights including freedom of speech and association.
Fred Ontere, Chair to Gusii Education Professionals said that as a community they demand respect, urging members of the public to respect one another for good development in the region.
They asked the entire Gusii community across the political divide to rally behind Matiangi and demand for respect at the national political arena.
They lauded Education CS Ezekiel Machogu and other leaders for their efforts in uniting Gusii Community, saying that it is was a positive development to forge Gusii unity among leaders and citizens.
However, former CS Matiang’i seems to have made a truce with the government of the day after being spotted with CS Machogu planning for Ruto’s visit to thw region. Matiang’i’s charges were also dropped by the DPP.
