Relief for schools in Rabai as MP launches construction of water boreholes

Rabai MP Anthony Kenga and some learners take a look at the driller which will make boreholes in area schools.

Water problems will be a thing of the past for schools in Rabai sub-county, Kilifi county after area MP launched the construction of boreholes to provide utility water for schools in the area.

While launching the construction of a borehole at Canon Kuri Secondary School, MP Anthony Kenga Mupe said that the water problem in the area had become a ticking time-bomb to schools because of the increasing population of learners.

“Water has been a problem in Rabai and Kilifi County in general but together with Governor Gideon Mung’aro we are slowly finding a lasting solution,” he said.

Kenga said that together with the county government, he will construct boreholes in schools in the area for consumption by residents in adjacent villages as well.

“There will be a pipe that will go round Simakeni and Mailo so that learners can have water and surrounding villages can access clean water also,” he added.

Water scarcity in the larger Kilifi county has affected service delivery especially in learning institutions where school authorities are forced to purchase water from far hence consuming a lot of capitation money.
