Kenya National union of Teachers (KNUT) has asked the Ministry of Education (MoE) to release capitation funds to the schools.
Speaking to Education Newspaper, the union’s national second Vice Chairman Aggrey Namisi said the Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Mochugu should move with speed to release the funds to avoid crippling of smooth running of learning institutions.
“Let the MoE disburse capitation funds to schools to avoid crippling of school activities,” he said.

The unionist also remarked that in the recent months, schools across the country have been facing tough times to implement activities due to delayed disbursement of capitation.
Namisi also asked the school heads not to send students home for not clearing school fees.
He noted that most of parents are going through hard times and it is time for the government to act and make sure schools run smoothly.
