Pumwani Girls Secondary School in Starehe Constituency, Nairobi, held a special memorial service this morning at the school’s compound in honour of its late principal, Madris Wanja Nthakanio.
Nthakanio was in her second year as principal at Pumwani Girls.
Students, family, and community members celebrated the life of Nthakanio through songs and prayers.

Euologsing her during the memorial service, the area Amos Mwago Maina MP praised the late principal for bringing tremendous improvements to the school.

“May our good Lord see her family and the entire Pumwani Girls fraternity through this difficult period,” he added.
“Wadau Wa Elimu” Kenya, a dynamic and forward-thinking independent group committed to advancing education in our nation also condoled with the family.
“On behalf of “Wadau wa Elimu” Kenya we send our heartfelt condolences to the Pumwani Girls fraternity for the loss of the school principal Madris Wanja. May her soul rest in peace,” the message reads.
Speakers expressed compassion for the late principal at today’s memorial assembly.
Another facebook user, Muthoni Wanjira eulogised the late Principal saying, “My deepest condolences to Pumwani Girls School and her entire family. She was very kind may her soul rest in peace.”
