All public schools in Othaya Constituency are set to be upgraded to modern academy status, according to area Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina.
Wambugu announced that classrooms will be tiled, footpaths upgraded with cabro paving, and roofs replaced where necessary.
He spoke after a meeting with the Project Management Committees (PMCs) from the region and members of the National Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) Board.

“This meeting aims to inform the PMCs about the value for money expected from them by the NGCDF Board,” said Wambugu, emphasizing that misuse of CDF funds and substandard work reflects poorly on him as the MP responsible for overseeing the fund.
Wambugu also urged teachers and the local community to focus on improving academic performance, saying, “We cannot only enhance school infrastructure while our academic performance lags. We must uplift both our facilities and results.”
Following the recent High Court ruling that declared the NGCDF unconstitutional, Wambugu expressed his intent to appeal the decision. He affirmed that the fund has been instrumental in benefiting his constituents and pledged to defend it.
The modernization project is expected to significantly improve the learning environment in Othaya, contributing to better education standards and overall community development.
