The Public Service Commission (PSC) has advertised a job vacancy for Vice Chancellor at the University of Nairobi.

The VC will replace Prof Stepehen Kiama (pictured below) who was ousted by the university Council last year.

The position of deputy vice chancellor (academic affairs) has also been advertised at the same university.

In notices, published on Tuesday January 21, 2025 in My Gov pullout, the Commission has announced different job vacancies for different institutions.

PSC seeks also for a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance) for Kenyatta University and a Deputy Vice-Chancellor as well.

“Pursuant to the provisions of section 35(a)(v) of the Universities Act 2012 amended through Statute Law (Miscellaneous) Amendment) Act No. 18 of 208, the Public Service Commission invites application from suitably qualified persons for the vacant position,” reads the notice.

In October last year, The University of Nairobi Council announced the termination of Vice Chancellor Prof Kiama’s tenure.

Through memo by the Council chair, Prof Amukowa Anangwe dated October 14, 2024, Prof Kiama was ousted as the VC of the university but the reasons were not shared to the public.

“The Council wishes to inform the university community that Prof Stephen Gitahi Kiama’s services as an employee of the University of Nairobi were terminated effective September 27, 2024,” memo read in part.
