Professionals challenged to offer solutions to societal problems

Professionals in Elgeyo Marakwet have been challenged to use their expertise to offer solutions to problems affecting the society.

County Governor Wisely Rotich is saying professional knowledge has been underutilized in offering solutions to problems affecting the youth in the society singling out unemployment and drug abuse.

Speaking during a thanks giving at the University of Eldoret, vice chancellor Thomas Cheruiyot Rotich said the vices have caused detrimental effects to the youth that needs urgent attention from the elites to enable the young generation have a meaningful life.

Acknowledging that education is the key to unlocking endless opportunities and realizing one’s full potential, Rotich said the youth require an enabling environment that will see them put their skills into productive ventures that eventually foster personal growth and development.

“Our professionals are key in formulating solutions to our problems. Education is the key to unlocking endless opportunities and realizing one’s full potential. It not only broadens our knowledge and skills but fosters growth and development. Therefore a solution to our problems opens the opportunities for us to thrive”, remarked the governor.

He described professor Cheruiyot as a person of impeccable leadership skills humble and focused alluding optimism that he could lead the university to greater academic heights.

On his part, Senator William Kisang said that prof. Cheruiyot throughout his career has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and has steadily risen to greater heights calling upon him to transform the university while upholding academic excellence.
