Kaplong Secondary School was plunged into mourning after the Principal Mike Yator was found dead in his residence.
KUPPET officials who rushed to the school upon receiving the shocking news confirmed the incident. KUPPET Vice Chair for Bomet, Peter Bett, who immediately visited the institution, expressed his disbelief and urged the school community to remain calm.
According to those who had interacted with the Principal, he appeared well and jovial on Monday as he welcomed students returning from the Half Term holidays.
“He worked tirelessly while receiving the students until he retired at around 9.30 pm, mentioning that he was a bit tired before going to sleep,” added Bett.

The following morning, concerned staff, noticing his delay in reporting to his office, went to check on him at his residence. They found his lifeless body. The body was later transferred to Siloam Funeral Home in Kericho County.

KUPPET officials from the neighbouring county of Kericho, led by Executive Secretary Mary Rotich and Treasurer Zablon Kipkoech Rono, expressed their shock and disbelief upon hearing the news. They called for calm during this difficult time, sending their condolences to the Principal’s family, the students, teachers, and the entire community.
