President Ruto commissions Kiwegu Secondary School classroom blocks

President William Ruto today officially commissioned Kiwegu Secondary School, one of the stored blocks in Lunga-Lunga sub-county, Kwale County, as part of the government’s commitment to improving education infrastructure in the region.

 

The newly launched school facility includes modern classrooms and well-equipped science laboratories, which aim to enhance the quality of education and foster innovation among students. 

 

Ruto said that the government is keen on bridging the gap in educational opportunities nationwide by investing in learning institutions, especially in marginalized areas.

 

During the launch, Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring every Kenyan child has access to quality education, regardless of background.

 

“This infrastructure will ensure your children get equal opportunities in education. We strive for equity because every child deserves a fair chance to succeed,” he said.

 

He further announced that the government is constructing a state-of-the-art college within Kwale that will offer specialized logistics and maritime studies courses.

 

Ruto said the institution aims to equip young people with the skills needed to tap into the vast opportunities within the Blue Economy, a sector with significant potential for job creation and economic growth.

 The President said his administration is committed to empowering youth to raise the blue economy.

 

Ruto also pledged that the Kenya Kwanza government plans to establish ICT hubs in every ward across Kwale County in collaboration with local leaders.

 

The hubs will provide young people with essential digital skills, enabling them to access online job opportunities and participate in the growing digital economy.

“We want to establish ICT hubs and equip them with computers and qualified trainers to ensure young people receive proper digital skills training,” he said.

 

He encouraged young people to take advantage of government-sponsored learning and employment opportunities to enhance their skills and livelihoods.

 

On Monday, President Ruto also launched Likoni TVET in Mombasa County.

 

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani praised the initiative, emphasizing that the new facilities would significantly enhance the learning environment and boost school enrollment and retention rates.

 

She commended President Ruto for his commitment to equitable service delivery nationwide. She acknowledged the government’s continued investment in infrastructure projects transforming Kwale County.
