Preparations to host national championships heat up as zonals end in Kisii

As Kisii County waits to host secondary schools national championships, games teachers are busy training and positioning their teams to book space in the awaited meeting.

Mosocho zone schools in Kisii Central Sub-county met at St Ambrose Nyaore Secondary School in the interior of Kitutu Chache North Constituency to wrestle for county positions.

Nyaore hosted 13 schools in the zone that include Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, Raganga, Kioge, Riotero, Ong’icha and St Michael Girls, among others.

Cardinal Otunga Mosocho mauled Ong’icha 3- 0 in soccer among other schools to qualify for county competitions.

In Volley ball, hosts Nyaore overcame its opponents, among them St Patrick Mosocho whom they trounced 3-0 to reach the county level to be held in Cardinal Otunga Mosocho Boys from June 6.

The zone’s Sports Secretary Peter Madaraka of Ong’icha Secondary School lauded the games teachers for presenting disciplined teams, adding that sports are meant for building and cementing good relationship among students and teachers from various schools.

As they prepare for the county games, there are still concerns the Gusii Stadium that is planned to host most activities is not ready.
