Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has said preparations are in top gear ahead of inaugural Baringo Business and Digital Information Summit slated to take place mid this month.
While addressing media in Kabarnet town, the county chief said Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, Principal Secretary ICT John Tanui ,Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KNNCI ) President Erick Ruto, chamber patron KNNCI and Nairobi Security Exchange Chairman Kiprono Kitony, and captains of industries from Baringo County have confirmed to grace the summit.
The governor said six Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions in the county mounted with digital hubs and ICT centres will partner with the county to reconnoiter opportunities available for youth in advancing digital world.
‘‘ We are aiming to train over 300 youth from TVETs from the county on various skills, including digital information data security. This is one of vital areas anchored in my manifesto also in tandem with Kenya Kwanza government master plan on Bottom up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA ) during the two day business and digital expo,’’ said Governor Cheboi.

He said the summit is among participatory engagements the county government is putting in to maximize the potential of youth and women in the expo event where exhibitors will find opportunities to showcase opportunities in digital space.
Baringo Chapter Chairman Musa Mulwo lauded the governor for offering youth a perfect opportunity to train the society on openings available in digital space, hailing KNNCI Baringo chapter for the key role it has played in nurturing young entrepreneurs through ideas in business.
He said the summit will involve insightful panel discussions and town hall sessions on emerging issues in business, which will be an avenue to market Baringo County abroad and prepare for economic take off.
Boresha Deposit Taking Sacco and Skyline Deposit taking Sacco and other financial institutions have partnered with the county government to host the expo, which will take place on the 14th and 15th November.
