Poor roads, lack of electricity in schools frustrate students at Nakuru ward

Form Four Secondary school learners from Vikingi Tatu and Block 10, Mariashoni ward in Molo Sub-county are forced to trek over 20 kilometres daily to access education. This arduous journey not only compromises their physical well-being but also impacts their academic performance.

Speaking at Chai Moto Centre, Mariashoni Ward, Molo constituency of Nakuru county, some of the parents, led by Joseph Sigilai, made a heartfelt plea, saying their form four students who travel cumulative distances of over 20km to and from school.

Learners in forms three and two are at Vikingi and Kapsinendet Day Secondary School. The schools have no Form Four classrooms to transit to, saying the area has no roads or electricity.

They urgently called upon area MP Kuria Kimani to address their plight by establishing additional schools in the area. They believe this will reduce the distance and time their children currently have to travel to access education.

“Our children start their journey from Vikingi tatu all through since some of the schools here have not progressed to four; hence, they are forced to travel,” he said.

Reuben Chirchir, echoing the sentiments of many parents in the area, expressed considerable concern about the future of their children in such challenging educational conditions.
