Poly games in Shinyalu wrap up as Shilolavakhali dominates across genres

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, the man behind the idea of sports competitions for polytechnics in the county.

The Shinyalu Sub-county Inter-Polytechnic competition wrapped up in thrilling fashion, showcasing fierce athleticism across soccer, volleyball and netball.

Shilolavakhali County Polytechnic’s handball team shone brightly, clinching first place with an impressive 12 goals, outpacing Lugala’s 6.

In men’s volleyball, Mukhuru triumphed over Lugala with a decisive 3-0 victory, while the Mukhuru women led the way with a narrow one set advantage against Shidodo. The excitement continued in men’s soccer, where Shilolavakhali claimed the trophy with a tight 1-0 victory over Lugala Polytechnic.

The women’s teams also delivered, with Shilolavakhali securing a close 2-1 win against Lugala.

Netball saw Lugala rise to the occasion, overcoming Mukhuru with a score of 6-4, showcasing their competitive spirit.

The event, held at Lugala Primary School, was graced by one Ayuma, a Kakamega County government official, who praised the athletes for their outstanding performances that led them to the sub-county finals.

She encouraged all participants to strive for excellence in the upcoming county games, reinforcing Governor Barasa’s vision to promote social development through talent identification and nurturing among the youth of Kakamega County.
