Police in Imenti South sub-county have launched investigations into a burglary incident where armed thugs broke into Kathantatu Day Secondary school, murdered one nightguard and critically injured another before stealing school property on Monday night.
The injured guard is currently fighting for his life at Nkubu Consolata Mission Hospital where he was admitted following the accident.
Confirming the incident, Gakuri Senior Assistant Chief Joseph Muthuri said that the thugs broke into four offices and made away with property of unknown value.
“Upon arrival, police discovered a scene indicative of a violent struggle. Bloodstains were visible in the compound, suggesting that the night watchmen fought bravely against their attackers. The injured watchman was promptly transported to Nkubu Consolata Mission Hospital for urgent medical treatment, where he remains under close observation,” said Muthuri.
He emphasized the importance of community vigilance and appealed for any information that may lead to the identification of the suspects.
Police officers are interviewing witnesses and examining surveillance footage from the vicinity hoping to capture any identifiable details regarding the intruders.
