Parents asked to monitor movements of children during April holidays

Bishop Kakala of JCC in Kilifi has asked parents to monitor their children during April holidays.

Parents in Kilifi County have been asked to monitor closely the movements of their daughters so as to know exactly their whereabouts, particularly during the long holiday.

Speaking to Education News in Malindi town recently, Bishop Thomas Kakala of Jesus Christ Centre (JCC) International Ministry urged parents not to allow their daughters to attend night Disco Matanga where they are lured into sex, get pregnant and drop out of school.

He decried the high dropout rates among school girls in the region, attributing it to early pregnancies.

Kakala asked the government to give men deterrent sentences so as discourage others from engaging in sex with school children.

“You are therefore duty bound to bring up your children in the Christian faith to enable them to become future church leaders,” he told parents.

He asked that all girls who are out of school because of pregnancy to go back, even those who are already married.
