Nandi East Deputy County Commissioner Ngalia Ndaya has urged parents to enable a conducive environment for candidates during the national examination period.
He said that for students to post good results there are a number of measures that should be taken into consideration.
Addressing residents in the area, the DCC warned that stern action will be taken against those who will engage in noisy activities near examination centers.
He also cautioned against selling traditional brew to candidates, urging residents to report such cases to relevant authorities to take necessary action.
“The examination period is a critical moment in the life of a student. I want to call upon all residents to ensure they avoid activities that might interrupt the smooth running of examinations,” the DCC said, while wishing all candidates success in their exams.
The DCC advised residents and parents to sensitize students against drug abuse, saying it will greatly hinder their academic performance.
He told parents to encourage their children to work hard and progress to different levels of education, instead of dropping out to pick tea.
“It is time parents should encourage their children to work hard in school to acquire skills necessary to cope in the outside world,” he said.
Ndaya further urged parents intending to circumcise their boys during the holiday to ensure their children’s safety.
