Parents have been asked to set stringent boundaries in order to maintain discipline in their children, who are currently on holiday.
Speaking while addressing a public baraza in Bobasi Central location, Chief Jane Yobesh told parents that setting rules will guide their children into responsible individuals, maintaining balance and harmony in families and society at large.
Yobesh added that this period is crucial for parents to bond with their children and asked parents to create time to spend with their offspring and encourage them to participate in community activities.
The Chief condemned parents who indulge in illicit brew excessively and reminded them that they are role models influencing children negatively, and should instead consume with moderation.
She also asked students to assist with house chores instead of loitering in town centres and markets, saying they provide important life and social lessons.
Yobesh further cautioned them against partaking in drug abuse and bad company to ensure a bright future for them.
The Chief assured residents of security during the holidays but asked them to take personal responsibility and be their brother’s keeper.
