Over 20,000 candidates to sit for KPSEA exams in Kericho

A total of 26,551 Grade 6 candidates will sit for the Kenya Primary Schools Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams in Kericho county.

County Director of Education Julius Ngoneshi said that the county has 21,141 candidates in public schools 5,410 candidates in private schools.

Ngoneshi noted that the county had a total of 774 centres, 553 of them being public schools.

“We have 26,551 candidates in 553 public schools and 221 private ones,” he stated.

Addressing the press, the Director said that since the beginning of the exam period on Tuesday this week, no hitch had been reported.

He also revealed that the county had registered 26,449 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates, 13,417 boys and 13,032 girls.

Ngoneshi cautioned parents and learners against buying fake papers circulating in various social media, adding that elaborate measures have been put in place to ensure the integrity and smooth running of the exams.

“I want to take this opportunity to caution candidates and their parents against buying fake examination papers. They will have themselves to blame if they do so,” he added.

He said that the candidates sat for the technical subjects in Group 5 mainly German, Music and French.
