The outgoing Chief Principal of Friends Malava Boys in Kakamega North has called for calm and nationalism as they swap positions with the embattled Friends Teremi Boys Principal Dr Aliva Luvaso.
John Simiyu Wakwabubi is moving to Teremi Boys in Chwele, Bungoma County under the same capacity as Chief Principal. Confirming his transfer, he stated that he received the communication from Teachers Service Commission (TSC) last week over the same although speculations began in December last year.
“Yes, it is official they have communicated to me over my transfer to Teremi, and I am just waiting to hand over to my able colleague whom I have confidence that he will steer the school to greater academic heights.”
He however cautioned the residents of Malava against prejudging the incoming new principal and instead focus on his strength as an academic guru who has steered many schools to prosperity.

“I know this transfer might not auger well with some of you, but I want to humbly request you as Malava Boys fraternity to exercise calm and maturity and allow the transition to take place smoothly because any kind of heightened utterances could trigger animosity that will see your school loose relevance and the national outlook. Let us be very careful on what we speak as transfer of teachers is a common requirement by the TSC. Therefore, let us welcome Dr Luvaso and we are hopeful that his vast experience he will lead this great school to academic prosperity,” he advised.

The principal who is leaving the school after five years of service, last year steered the institution to record over 145 students transitioning to university being the best ever record since inception of the school.
It had a Mean Grade of 6.10.
However, Wakwabubi said that the parents owe the school KSh12 million in fee arrears.
On his part, the incoming Principal Dr Luvaso despite the recent riot in his immediate former school where out of 651candidates who 2024 KCSE, 36 candidates registered grade Y, he prides himself of leading the school to register an A Plain, 10 A-, 11 B+, 32 B 54 B- and 105 C+ among others with total direct university entry standing at 213 translating to an overall mean of 6.08.

“With your cooperation and commitment, we will be able to improve on your already record breaker and I’m committed to walk this academic journey with yourselves. It is unfortunate that some of our candidates’ results were cancelled, no principal wishes for such setback to his candidates and I wish to tell Kenyans that it was beyond my control and I wish I could revert the decision to the benefit of the affected candidates, but it happened the way it did and someone somewhere had to take the blame,” said he.
He however was optimistic that the swapping will give him a fresh start and prove to Kenyans that he can deliver effectively.
