Form 1, 2 and 3 students at Othaya Boys High School in Nyeri county will not sit for their final end-term exams this year.
This follows the school’s Board of Management (BoM) decision to let the students remain at home extending their leave after they were released from school on October 9 following tension and unrest at the school.
The unrest involved Form 4 candidates and the administration feared that the situation would disrupt preparations for the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
In a message sent to parents, the Chief Principal stated; “Form 1, 2, and 3 students will remain out of school until January 2025.”
The message noted that assignments will be shared via class WhatsApp groups and must be completed and submitted upon the students’ return in January.
“End-of-year exams are mandatory and will be conducted before students proceed to the next class,” the message from the Principal concluded.
