Sports enthusiasts in Nyanza fear the region might not be able to successfully host the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term 2 games in July because of incomplete infrastructure.
Speaking in Kisii town, they asked Governor Simba Arati to assure them of completion of the Gusii Stadium before July because they do not want to miss the opportunity which comes with business windfalls.
According to KSSSA calendar, the championships will run from 29th July to 7th August. Winning teams from every county in soccer, volleyball, netball and rugby 7s for both boys and girls will feature.
According to Kisii County Sports Secretary Geoffrey Nyantika, the county is ready to host the national event although he was not clear if the stadium in question, which is undergoing renovation, will be ready in time.
