Nyandarua Education Director urges school heads to utilise well JSS capitation funds

Nyandarua County Director of Education Philip Wambua has urged all school heads in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) to ensure they adhere to strict guidelines on utilisation of financial and resources management in their respective schools.

Wambua said the core responsibility of the heads of JSS to ensure they use government resources disbursed in their institution to benefit learners.

“It is the responsibility of our JSS heads to ensure they strictly follow regulations governing the use of public resources to ensure a conducive environment for all learners, workers, and teachers,” said Wambua.

The Director said there had been a mismanagement of resources in JSS, and they should be used only for their intended purpose.

He gave the example of the Renovation and Maintenance Fund (RMF), which should be used to renovate classrooms and buy furniture for JSS learners.

Through the Ministry of Education, the Director said the Government will continue supporting JSS to enable teachers, learners, and staff to fulfil their obligations well.

“We are committed as the government to supporting our JSS to create a conducive learning environment for our learners, teachers, and school workers,” said Wambua.

He added that learning is going smoothly in all JSS schools in Nyandarua and urged heads of schools to ensure JSS teachers prepare all examinations.

“We encourage schools not to buy examination papers but allow teachers to set examinations for JSS learners,” said Wambua.

He congratulated all schools which performed well in 2024 KCSE and encouraged schools which did not perform well to add more effort to enable students to get good results.
