There was a rude shock for members of Nyamira County Elites Forum (NCEF) who include teachers when they visited the home of former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire home to congratulate on his appointment to the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) docket.
Led by Asati Atunga, the eager group were received with a surprise when they were told by the gatekeeper to wait at the entrance to the residence for a short while.
“Mzee has said that he will address you, but you have to be patient,” he said.
It was at this point when the former legislator, Bosire walked out of his room and received them in an open encirclement at a perimeter wall next to the magnificent home.
“It is good you have come to congratulate me, but I wish you knew earlier what I have decided. I have turned down the offer for my own reasons after a deeper consultation with my family and other leaders,” he said.
Some of the teachers in the group congratulated him for the rejection while others tried to persuade him to take it as a show of respect to President Ruto.
Atunga who had earlier wished Bosire to take the position joined others to reject it saying that the position is too small for a person like Bosire who has a rich experience in public leadership.
“We young teachers will stand with you. Kindly ask President Ruto to give you a different post if he has the interest of Nyamira people at heart,” he said.
Bosire’s rejection comes barely a day after he was named in a gazette notice as the new chairman of NTSA after the revocation of Dr Majoh Shah as the chair.

Speaking to Education News at his Nyamira home on Saturday morning, Bosire termed the decline a personal decision and thanked the President for the offer but did not regret for not taking it.
Bosire’s rejection comes a few months after former MP for West Mugirango Vincent Kemosi rejected his appointment to an ambassadorial position.
The elites group called on leaders to unite and talk as a team to avoid the divide and rule approach of President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.
They accused the former premier Raila Odinga for allegedly misleading President Ruto to divide the people of Nyanza for his selfish needs and vowed to oppose the ill calculated scheme.
