Kisii University lecturers have promised to continue with the strike until all their demands are heard and met by the government.
Speaking at the institution on Tuesday, led by their branch chairman Joshua Nyandusi and Treasurer Enock Amboga, the dons blamed the government for failure to implement the 2021- 2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement whose terms they said ate overdue.
“We want the government to implement the issues tabulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement before we return to work,” said Nyandusi, asking the CS for Education Julius Ogamba to intervene and give them what is rightfully theirs.

The determined dons want the new University Funding Model shelved because it does not address sustainability issues of university staff salaries.
“This funding model is another stumbling block on our economical path that is why we call for its abolition,” said Amboga, telling the government to close all universities and only open them when there is enough money to pay lecturers.
Asked if they were ready to engage in dialogue with the government, they did not spell any possibility but expressed optimism their quest will yield fruit.
The dons’ strike comes at the time first year students have just reported to begin their studies.
