It is only a stone’s throw to this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration. Despite the biting economic times, expressions of love to loved ones can’t be left uncelebrated. This year’s celebration seems to be taking a different trajectory in the education sector.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Nandi branch and Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers who were ‘moguls’ now turned ‘maestros’ are in a preparatory mood to show love to their loved ones.
By honouring a special invite from Kapsabet School for the Deaf, the union under the steady and focused leadership of Captain Paul Rotich, this year’s Valentine’s will be dedicated to the learners who are abled differently.
Through its platform, the union is calling upon members to join hands in an activity that will put smiles on the abled differently learners.
KUPPET members across the county have been requested to drop food stuff, stationery, toiletries, and printing papers and be available on the February 14 to offer moral support to the learners.

JSS teachers from the county will use the opportunity to thank God after being confirmed to permanent status by the commission.
Captain Rotich echoed the need for JSS to have separate administrative structures and management. This, he said, will mitigate the current stalemate of confrontation between them teachers and their supervisors and eliminate stagnation among the teachers.
