Kisumu West Aid CBO, a non-profit-making organization, has brought hope and dignity to the marginalized communities majorly the needy students in Kisumu West Sub-County through its comprehensive support.

In an interview with Education News at the organization’s Otonglo offices on Friday, Kennedy Oloo, Head of Programs, said the organization’s key objective is to provide access to education for all needy students drawn from the sub-county.

He said that by providing access to education, which is a foundational pillar for long-term change, the NGO is aiming to ensure that future generations are better equipped with skills and knowledge needed to improve their lives through education initiatives.

“Through education initiatives, our NGO has increased access to quality education, leading to better employment opportunities. So far, we have offered full scholarships to a total of 17 direct and proud beneficiaries particularly in secondary schools in Kisumu West,” he said.

Oloo at the same time emphasized that the NGO is very aggressive in sexual reproductive health initiatives where sanitary pads are distributed based on the needs of adolescent girls.

“As we speak, I would wish to confirm to you that our NGO has so far impacted up to 1170 teenage schoolgirls in over 13 partner local learning institutions, majorly in Kisumu West,” he said.

One of the NGO’s notable achievements is training over 4200 youth in digital literacy as well as online marketing, and empowering over 2700 youth in sexual reproductive health, mental health, leadership, drugs and substance abuse, and gender-based violence.

“The NGO, despite some financial constraints, has given education first priority so as to ensure that all needy students in the sub-county have access to education, which is the key to a better future,” said Oloo.
