A non-governmental organization known as The Ray of Hope is committed to supplying food to schools in the arid and semi-arid areas of West Pokot County.
The organisation’s goal is to ensure that learners maintain their attendance in schools, increase the enrollment of learners, and provide them with quality nutrition.

Recently, the organization organised a workshop for teachers from targeted schools in the county to raise awareness about the activities and programs of The Ray of Hope. The sponsor, Papajan, emphasized the importance of teachers encouraging students as they engage in learning activities.

He highlighted that teachers play a critical role in guiding learners to effectively use the information they receive. As Papajan continued, he stated that knowledge is the ability to correctly apply the information learned.

He quoted Genesis 1:26 and John 3:16 to support his explanation. “Each child is a creative container; they already know something and just need guidance to achieve their best in what they are learning,” Papajan said.
The Ray of Hope director, Apollo Ayimba, mentioned that the organization is awaiting clearance from the Ministry of Education before their programme can commence. Additionally, Pastor Samwel Nakwa, the Ray of Hope coordinator in the county, stated that the organization also plans to supply lockers to schools facing shortages and will repair damaged water pumps.
Pastor Nakwa urged the concerned schools to be patient as the necessary logistics are organized by the organization. The one-day workshop took place at Pkopoch Primary and Comprehensive School, where dozens of teachers attended.
