NGCDF allocates Ksh 8M to build primary school in Kajiado North

The National Government through NGCDF has allocated Ksh. 8 million for construction of a primary school in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado North to ensure every student access education and reduce illiteracy level in the county.

Speaking during the homecoming ceremony of County Executive Member Public Service and Inspectorate Judy Pere, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku said the county will allocate funds from November supplementary budget.

“We will partner with National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) to put up the fully fledged school,” he affirmed.

The governor said that the school will reduce congestion in schools in the area.

He also noted that the county has funded construction of fully fledged schools primary schools before, such as Likimani Primary school in Kitengela.

“I will continue funding primary and secondary schools and his government will not be stopped from funding schools,” Lenku stated.

The MP of Kajiado North Onesmus Ngogoyo said he is committed in ensuring there is a healthy learning environment for students to improve learning.

The ward has only one primary school and most parents have enrolled their children in schools in Nairobi County.

“According to the law preprimary education sector are functions of national government but I will defend the governor if questioned on funding the construction of the new school,” Ngogoyo stated.

He further noted that at one time the governor was summoned by the senate committee for funding projects in primary and secondary schools which is a mandate of national government.
