Tana River County has allocated KSh150 million for bursaries to assist needy but bright secondary school, college, and university students from impoverished backgrounds in pursuing their education in the country.
In an interview with Education News Hola town, Abbas Kunyo, the Tana River County Executive Committee Member in charge of the Education Ministry, stated that this funding is designated for bursaries for the entire year.

He asked parents in the region to come forward and apply for these bursaries so that their children can continue their education.
Kunyo emphasized that no deserving secondary school student from a poor background in the county should have to stay home due to a lack of school fees.
He noted, however, that many parents have not applied for the bursaries, a trend that undermines the county government’s efforts to improve education levels in the area.
Additionally, he encouraged parents to enroll their children who have completed the Kenya KCSE in technical and vocational colleges to help them acquire essential technical skills in various fields.
Kunyo also mentioned that students admitted to technical and vocational training colleges receive 15,000 shillings per year as bursaries.
He highlighted the vital role that these institutions play in preparing the youth for future self-employment.
