Needy students in Bumula get KSh52 million bursary

Needy   students  in  secondary schools and tertiary insitutions from   Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County have been  awarded bursaries amounting to KSh52 million from  the NG-CDF kitty.

Speaking  at  Kimatuni Primary School grounds during the disbursement, the  area  Legislator  Jack  Wanami Wamboka  noted that he is  going to ensure that no child misses education for lack of fees.

He commended the teaching fraternity for exemplary performance who posted improved results compared to previous years citing  that  the   food programme was  a big  boost  to  the  learners  especially candidates.

According to the MP, he will continue to set up new infrastructure including classrooms, administration blocks for various schools including modern toilet facilities across all schools in the area.

Bumula Constituency MP Hon Jack Wanami Wamboka inspects a guard of honour from St Mary Magdalene Mixed Secondary School organized by school scouts.

He  said that plans are underway to hold an Education Day for the constituency so as to award the best performing schools, students  and  teachers.

The MP further said that 200 students enrolled at Kenya Industrial Training Institute in Nauru are about to graduate well-armed with skills to shine at the job market.

He reiterated on his commitment to improve some technical institutes including Musakasa and Cardinal Maurice Otunga Tulumba TTIs.

He called on Ministry of Education to halt e-Citizen fees collection model saying many parents are struggling financially.

Augustine Watamba Chairman KNUT Bungoma County thanked teachers for good delivery and Government for appointment of Bungoma South KNUT Executive Ken Nganga Milimo to ambassadorial position in United Arab Emirates UAE noting that it is a trust in the teachers’ leadership.

On his part, Bumula sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Hidaya Salim Abdala said that Government is keen on a 100 per cent transition policy.

St Magdalene Kimatuni Secondary School received KSh900,000 for the purchase of one acre piece of land for its  expansion  while KSh500,000 was awarded to Kimatuni Primary School for construction of toilets for learners.

MCAs present included  Tim Chikati (Ndalu Tabani Ward), Sudi Kalasinga  (South Bukusu),  Jeremiah Kuloba  (Township), Cornelius Makhanu (Khalaba), Vitalis Wangila (Kabula), Orize MCA (Siboti), Jack Wambulwa (Kimaeti), Henry Nyongesa (Bumula), Anthony Lusenaka (Bukembe West) and Nancy Nanyama Kibaba nominated Member of County Assembly.
