Narok County has kicked off a 16-day campaign against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at Kilgoris DEB Primary School in Transmara West.
Robert Simotwo, the CECM for Education, Gender, Sports and Culture, led over 2,000 participants in launching the event that is themed around the fight against GBV.
Simotwo emphasized the importance of addressing GBV to empower children, especially girls, to achieve their dreams. He called for equal opportunities for both genders, noting that neglecting either perpetuates cycles of inequality.

Other speakers included Senior Magistrate Phyllis Shinyada, who highlighted the impact of GBV on children, and Deputy County Commissioner Chuck Masua, who stressed the need to resolve sexual assault cases through the courts.
The event, supported by organizations such as CREAW Kenya, We World, ADS, Kenya Redcross, Practical Action, SHE Achieve, Maasai Mara University, COVAW, MATASARU, URAIA, Peace Advocacy, AMREF and World Vision, showcased a united effort to end GBV and promote equality in the community.
