Students of St Anne’s Girls Secondary School in Makadara, Nairobi County on Tuesday night, January 7, were locked out of the school over unpaid fees.
The students were stranded outside the school gate for several hours from morning stretching to the night which led to widespread condemnation on social media.
One of the students lamented saying, “We’ve been sitting here since 10am. I’ve paid half of the school fees, and I come from far. They’re demanding around KSh26,000.
“Yet, even if you pay half, they still won’t let you in. So, what’s the point of even paying that half? We’ve been here all day, and we haven’t eaten anything since morning.”
Concerned Kenyans raised the alarm, through social media posts which led to area Member of Parliament George Aladwa intervening immediately.
