Mukurwe-ini MP gifts best performing teachers 5-day vacation to Mombasa

Mukurwe-ini Constituency Member of Parliament John Kaguchia, on Thursday April 11, said that primary school teachers whose subjects’ scores improved the most in 2023 KCPE are on their 5-day tour of Mombasa.

The MP through his Facebook account said he has fulfilled the promise he made on March 22, 2024 during the Mukurwe-ini Education Day.

“On March 22 this year, we held the Mukurwe-ini Education Day where we recognised schools, learners and teachers who have performed exemplary well in our constituency,” the MP said.

The law maker added that they awarded 823 persons including learners and their teachers from both primary schools and secondary schools. Each individual that was awarded received a certificate of good performance and a token to accompany the certificate.

“We also awarded trophies and certificates to schools that had performed well in both academic and co-curricular activities,” he said.

This was done to improve the education standards in the constituency and also motivate teachers and learners.

“With the motive to improve education standards in Mukurwe-ini, we are investing in improving school infrastructure, ensuring enough teachers, and awarding good performance,” the MP noted.

The Most Improved primary school head teacher and Most Improved primary school subject teachers were among those who were awarded. The Most Improved head teacher was awarded a ticket to Dubai for one week and the most improved subject teachers were awarded with a ticket to Mombasa on a 5-day tour. Head teachers received KSh50, 000 as well teachers received KSh10, 000 token as pocket money while touring.

Some 823 best performers, teachers, students and pupils in academics, leadership and co-curricular activities across the constituency were also awarded with trophies, certificates, KSh 1,000 each and gift hampers from Nice and Lovely Company.

The MP confirmed that the constituency will continue to reward teachers and learners adding, “This is just but the beginning. We shall be giving these awards every year to motivate good performance and enhance competition among learners, teachers and institutions,” he said.
