Muhoroni NG-CDF disburses Ksh28 Million to support local students

The Muhoroni National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has disbursed a total of Sh 28 million to various learning institutions within the constituency. Constituency manager Sospeter Ngere stated that fund coordinators have been tasked with delivering the cheques to the respective schools.

Speaking at the Nyangoma Chief’s Camp during the disbursement exercise, Ngere assured that no needy student who qualifies for the funds would be left out. Ngere, who was accompanied by the NG-CDF manager Henry Opilo, said on behalf of the MP Onyango Koyoo that all students who qualify to join national schools are automatic beneficiaries.

Similarly, Ngere mentioned that students qualifying for professional courses, such as law, medicine, and engineering, are also assured of sponsorship. He added that last year, the NG-CDF disbursed a total of Sh 44 million to students in schools and universities. He noted that Sh 11 million had earlier been disbursed for the same purpose.

Opilo emphasized that the cheques must be given in the presence of school principals and learners to ensure accountability. He also said that photos must be taken as evidence to show that the recipients are indeed the beneficiaries.

Opilo urged the students to work hard and avoid promiscuous behavior, which he noted could lead to unwanted pregnancies or sexually transmitted infections. He stated that the best way for students to thank their parents and the MP was by working diligently. He further called on those pursuing professional courses to give back to society in the future.

“Those who qualify as lawyers, for example, will be expected to offer pro bono services to the local community,” he said.

Muhoroni KESSHA chairperson George Ombok, who was also present, praised the initiative, saying the funds would go a long way in assisting bright but needy students. He lauded MP Koyoo for prioritizing education in the use of NG-CDF funds, encouraging other leaders to follow suit.
