Matungu MP Oscar Nabulindo has set a target to achieve 100 per cent literacy in the constituency through the delivery of NGCDF scholarships and bursaries to needy and bright students.
Speaking at St Maurice Mwira Secondary School during the official launch of a storey building which will host a twin laboratory and three classrooms funded by the NGCDF, Nabulindo said as he delivers scholarships to students, parents should play their role and support their children with basic items.
Nabulindo, together with his Khwisero counterpart Christopher Aseka, warned boda boda operators who impregnate school girls that they will be dealt with ruthlessly by their goons.
“It’s embarrassing that after paying fees to a Form 2 student she gets pregnant, goes back to school after nursing the baby, and gets pregnant again in Form 4,” Nabulindo said.
He advised Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa to support education programmes and bring more developments to Matungu because he campaigned for him.
