MP promises to withdraw case challenging construction of Nyamira University

West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka has said that he will withdraw the case challenging the establishment of Nyamira University at Kiabonyoru.

The MP who spoke to the public in Nyamira town said he will not be bothered to know where the long-awaited university will be allocated anymore but instead, he will start a fresh quest for Nyamira to get a second University.

“I will be the last person to oppose the establishment of the university in Nyamira. I will withdraw the case against it in court on Monday,” he said.

Her said that he will request President William Ruto to build second university in the county.

The MP narrated the long history how the John Nyagarama negotiated with Eldoret University to establish its campus in Nyamira and wondered why the authorities were altering the original arrangement and snatched the ownership from Eldoret to Kisii University.

The decision of President for the construction of the university at Kiabonyoru Secondary School was challenged in court by 40 petitioners who were led by West Mugirango MP Stave Mogaka.

They argued that Kiabonyoru had no good accessible roads, health facilities and enough security to provide an enabling environment for hosting students.

The petitioners through lawyer Danston Omari further accused President of hijacking Commission of University Education mandate concerning the establishment of the universities.

In his U- turn decision to withdraw the case, Mogaka said that he is a Christian and has left the case to God to charge the corrupt officials who hide behind ghost projects to squander public funds.

“I do not want history to condemn me as a person who has hindered education development in Nyamira and I will therefore withdraw the case from court,” he said.
