North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood is concerned that Grade 9 classrooms have not been constructed in his constituency, blaming National Treasury for failing to release NGCDF funds in time for the projects.
Dawood said in North Imenti, they have about 30 Grade 9 classrooms which are yet to be constructed in different JSS.
Speaking at Mwiteria Day Secondary School in Meru during a public participation meeting, Dawood called on the treasury to release the withheld NGCDF funds that has delayed implementation of projects in his constituency.
He said about Ksh25 million is yet to be disbursed, thus delaying some of the projects.
“We are late on the construction of Grade 9 classes. My constituency alone needs about 20-30 classrooms. We urge the National Treasury to release NGCDF money because this financial year, I am yet to receive about Ksh25 million. There is also about Ksh8 million from KERRA, making it hard to repair roads in my constituency,” Dawood said.

On the merger of the school bursary funds, Dawood said all the bursaries including those given by the county government should be directed to the MPs as they are the ones who know the most needy or vulnerable people in the community.
Dawood said he is in full support as the Bill will address matters which the courts have been also insisting on, such as the required number of people needed for public participation to be considered as public participation.
“We want to know the requirements for a public participation – the maximum and the minimum number of people participating in public participation,” Dawood said.
