Shinyalu Member of Parliament (MP) Fred Ikana has launched a school feeding programme for primary and day secondary schools in the Constituency.

Speaking during the event on Tuesday, Ikana said that the first beneficiaries will be the Grade 6, Class 8 and Form 4 candidates who will enjoy free meals throughout the national examination period in October and November.

The MP distributed foodstuff to the over 151 primary and secondary schools in an event held at St. Gerald Shanjero Secondary School.

He exuded confidence that the 2023 candidates will register sterling performances in their national examinations.

“This feeding programme will go a long way in cushioning our learners, especially from needy backgrounds, from hunger to enable them concentrate in their studies,” he said.

Ikana had, earlier in the day, launched the construction of a modern storey building that will accommodate 8 classrooms at Ileho Primary School, bringing such projects to 6 in the past one year.

The MP also promised to procure geometrical sets for all the over 6,000 KCPE candidates in the constituency.

“These are some of the efforts that are aimed at enhancing the academic performance in our schools.” He said.
