With only two days remaining for schools to open for Term One most parents have expressed fear of the government’s readiness to accommodate Grade 9 learners in the Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
Parents from Borabu Constituency in Nyamira County say that there are no enough classrooms for their children ahead of school reopening on Monday.
Speaking to Education News they asked the Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba to clarify what they will do for their children who are ready to learn.
“We don’t want these innocent kids to be embarrassed by the government which claims to love them that is why we need an alternative solution from the Cabinet Secretary,” said a concerned parent, Isaiah Nyakundi.
Good plans
However, the area MP Patrick Osero told them to be patient adding that the government has good plans for their children.
He downplayed their allegations about incomplete infrastructure saying that the government has completed 90 per cent construction of classrooms spread across four wards in the constituency.

“Let parents not be discouraged by those spreading wrong information. Our constituency has enough classrooms for every centre that was approved to host Grade Nine learners.
Only Kebuse Primary School whose money has not been disbursed does not have the classrooms and I’m making a follow up with the Government,” he said.
He asked parents to prepare their children for school on Monday and avoid dwelling on small excuses.
Osero who spoke at Mekenene Ward said his NG- CDF office is working hand in hand with all MCAs to identify priority areas of development and embark on them.
He singled out roads network, clean piped water and security as the major projects they will embark on because they are important pillars of education development.
